Abstract. This article examines the development trends of the food industry in the Jizzakh region during 2016–2025 and assesses the potential of its labor resources. The analysis draws on data from the SIAT information system of the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, materials from the Jizzakh Regional Department of Statistics, and time-series data on food and beverage manufacturing. The findings show that the value of food production increased from UZS 568.3 billion to UZS 3,312.4 billion over the ten-year period, while employment in manufacturing followed an uneven pattern. Data for 2017–2025 also indicate that output per employee in food and beverage manufacturing rose from UZS 335.0 million to UZS 916.6 million. The results suggest that the expansion of production cannot be explained simply by an increase in the number of employees. Labor resource potential therefore needs to be assessed more broadly, taking into account employees’ professional qualifications, their ability to adapt to technological change, and the economic return generated per employee.
