Abstract: This article analyzes the formation of non-performing loans in the credit activities of commercial banks, their role in the loan portfolio, and their impact on banks’ financial performance. The study focuses on the dynamics of problem loans, loan portfolio quality, and issues related to their effective management. Particular attention is paid to the impact of increasing non-performing loans on provisioning expenses, profitability, and financial stability. The findings demonstrate that early identification of problem loans, strengthening credit monitoring, and improving loan portfolio quality are important factors in enhancing the efficiency and financial stability of commercial banks.
