Abstract: Digital transformation has become an important driver of economic development, creating new opportunities for efficiency, innovation, and economic growth while also introducing emerging risks to economic security. This study examines the relationship between digitalization and registered fraud cases in Uzbekistan over the period 2015–2025. A qualitative review of relevant literature is combined with quantitative analysis of annual statistical data obtained from publicly available sources. The empirical analysis focuses on the relationship between registered fraud cases and selected indicators of digital development, particularly internet usage and fixed broadband subscriptions. Robust regression results indicate a positive and statistically significant association between digitalization indicators and registered fraud cases. The broadband model reports an elasticity of 0.765, while the internet-user model reports an elasticity of 0.992. These findings suggest that the expansion of digital connectivity has coincided with an increase in registered fraud cases in Uzbekistan. However, the results do not establish a causal relationship, as changes in reporting practices, law enforcement, and other socioeconomic factors may also influence the observed trends. The study highlights the importance of strengthening cybersecurity measures, improving digital literacy, and developing institutional capacity alongside digital infrastructure. It concludes that sustainable digital transformation requires policies that support technological progress while reducing the economic-security risks associated with increasing digital dependence.
