Abstract. This article provides a comprehensive scientific, theoretical, and practical analysis of the economic essence and modern functional characteristics of entrepreneurial activity. The study systematically examines classical, neoclassical, institutional, and innovation-based theoretical approaches to understanding the economic nature of entrepreneurship and highlights their distinctive features within the context of the modern economy. Furthermore, it scientifically substantiates the transformations occurring in the functional structure of entrepreneurial activity under the influence of the digital economy, artificial intelligence, the platform economy, and innovation-driven development processes. The research develops a conceptual model encompassing the economic, innovative, social, institutional, and digital-transformational functions of entrepreneurship and justifies its strategic importance in enhancing national economic competitiveness, stimulating investment activity, creating new jobs, and ensuring sustainable economic development.
