Abstract. The purpose of this article is to compare the current approach to assessing innovation activity in joint-stock companies in Uzbekistan with the experience of the Republic of Korea and to propose a comprehensive assessment approach adapted to national conditions. The study applies comparative and statistical analysis, a systems approach, generalization, and benchmarking. The information base includes official data from the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the OECD, the Science and Technology Policy Institute, and Korean institutions responsible for innovation policy and evaluation. The findings show that Uzbekistan has statistical indicators describing the number of innovation-active enterprises, innovation expenditure, the volume of innovative products and services, and related outcomes; however, there remains scope to strengthen a unified mechanism for regularly comparing the innovation activity of joint-stock companies through an integrated measure.
