The author\u044b considers the advantages of participatory budgeting as an advanced innovative practice in the field of public finance management, makes a review of legal acts aimed at regulating the processes of introducing the principles of an &#8220;open budget&#8221;, analyses the preliminary results of the application of initiative budgeting in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and gives recommendations to improve the process of involving citizens in the budget process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keywords.<\/strong>&nbsp;participatory budgeting, budget literacy, openness of the budget,
